Smart Room or Multimedia Classroom Equipment Orientations

Schedule a Smart Room Equipment Orientation

If University Scheduling has assigned you to teach in a room designated as a Smart Room we ask that faculty complete a short (less than 15 minute) orientation to become familiar with the installed media equipment.

You may have recently taught in a Smart Room and feel that an orientation is not needed.  If you have not yet visited your scheduled classroom, it is strongly recommended that you meet with a technician in your classroom to avoid being surprised or embarrassed on the first day of classes, as changes or upgrades may have occurred.

Call Eric Boege at 756-6429 (Mon.-Fri., 8AM-2PM) or by e-mail (eboege@calpoly.edu) to request an orientation for your Smart Room classroom.  Please plan to bring whatever materials you plan to use for your class to the orientation (laptop, DVD, VHS tape, audio CD, iPod, transparencies, etc.)  These will aid us in addressing your needs such as accessing the Internet, displaying your presentation, etc. and help to minimize potential problems.

Schedule a Multimedia Classroom Equipment Orientation

If University Scheduling has assigned you to teach in a room designated as a Multimedia classroom we ask that faculty complete a short (approximately 30 minutes) orientation to become familiar with the installed media equipment.

You may have recently taught in a classroom with installed AV and computer* equipment and feel that an orientation is not needed. However, as this classroom is more enhanced than the Cal Poly standard Smart Room or general-purpose classroom, it is strongly recommended that you meet with a technician in your Multimedia classroom to avoid being surprised or embarrassed by easy-to-fix issues with DVD/VHS playback and computer access on the first day of classes.

*Computer access is available with the completion of a classroom orientation.

Call Alex Uvalle at 756-2229 (Mon.-Fri., 9am - 4pm) or by email (auvalle@calpoly.edu) to request an orientation for your Multimedia classroom.
